The Divine Feminine

As girly-core and coquette aesthetics evolve and elevate, the FW 24/25 season heavily features sophisticated feminine-inspired styling and design details across Young Contemporary and Contemporary Womenswear collections.

The divine feminine–a key principle of the season outlined in our FW '24/'25 Trend Program as a “term that honors perceived feminine traits like intuition, care, and emotional intelligence”–has influenced designers to create collections balancing femme design with wearability across all lifestyles. Here, we break down three key concepts including "Take a Bow," "Earth Angel," and "Curves Ahead" featuring participating brands from the MAGIC Las Vegas February 2024 event.

TAKE A BOW

FW 24/25 proves to be a strong continuation of one of the most beloved feminine design details of the past few seasons: the bow. Our seasonal FW '24/'25 Young Contemporary Buyer’s Guide notes that those looking for femme styling via “Balletic Adornment” confirms bows are appearing from head to toe, whether ribbon hair ties, embellishments, or atop the “it” shoe of the year: the ballet flat.

“As a women-owned brand, designed by women and tailored for women, we find inspiration in the timeless allure of feminine aesthetics..."

- Cathy Wang, Account Director, OMG Blings

Brands like OMG Blings noted that while, overall, feminine designs were a key driver this season, the bow was a specific buyer request. As Cathy Wang, Account Director for OMG Blings, explains, “Feminine styles hold significant importance to us. As a women-owned brand, designed by women and tailored for women, we find inspiration in the timeless allure of feminine aesthetics, drawing from classic films to the chic runways of Paris. Our designs are therefore sparkly yet feminine, classic yet empowering, [and] we believe a good jewelry piece can either stand alone or complete an outfit by adding the right amount of elegance and attitude. Our buyers were excited to see our coquette designs in the 18K gold plated with sparkly simulated diamonds in our Water-Resistant Collection. Moreover, our Ribbon Bow Earrings and Necklaces encapsulate and bring out the ‘girl’ in every woman, blending timeless fun with elegance while being on-trend.” (For another top seasonal seller, check out the Puffy-Heart Gold Plated earrings featured above.)

EARTH ANGEL

Gentle bohemian influences via tapestry florals, soft silhouette maxi dresses, and a more delicate take on the Western revival (as detailed in the Tactile History concept in our FW 24/25 Contemporary Buyer’s Guide) are another trend driver this season. Pinks make way for earthy palettes and feminine design goes more au naturel. With details driven from crafted handiwork, tactility, and nomadic vibes, an earth angel twist on this trend gives femininity a place in the great outdoors—or simply inspired by it.

“Buyers this season were gravitating towards maxi dresses with feminine details—lots of ruffles and bows—but also marrying more bohemian styling with babydoll silhouettes."

- Sarah Yoon, Designer, Sofie the Label

For brands like Sofie the Label, who consider nature one of their evergreen sources of design inspiration, this season’s collection is organically aligned with the trend ethos. “Buyers this season were gravitating towards maxi dresses with feminine details—lots of ruffles and bows—but also marrying more bohemian styling with babydoll silhouettes,” said Sarah Yoon, the brand’s designer. “We had fun designing this collection, playing around with proportion, shape, and texture, to create pieces that align with our ‘target’ woman; she is always looking for something beautiful and feminine, so I keep that in mind.”

CURVES AHEAD

Post-global runways, tailoring trends—such as "lady-like suiting," as refered to by Marie Claire "cinched waist jackets," as stated by Fashionista and "voluminous pants" as coined by Harper's Bazaar—lend themselves to a polished aesthetic and align well with the overarching ethos of femininity. Consumers will especially gravitate towards items with femme silhouettes, design details, and embellishments. Look out for peplum hems, corset-inspired styling, and sweet coordinating accessories like chokers to capture this sensibility.
